Dose di rosa - Dose of pink

My hair has officially been chalked.

“Beauty means the scent of roses and then the death of roses”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise

Hopped off my bike and snapped this last Sunday in the Villa Borghese.

My favorite place in Rome, St. Peter's Square, is pink sometimes too.

The Joys of Italian Babysitting: Ep.1

So tonight, after frying an egg for little Giulia,
she informed me in italian that on a scale of 1 to 10, I get a ZERO.

I could not stop laughing which she also could not understand.

Let me just say I love Italian children.
They are by far the cutest, and when they speak in their little squeeky voices,
it's impossible to be mad at them regardless of what they've done!
The parents of these girls don't know it but honestly I am a terrible babysitter,
Because they are just so cuuute. I cannot discipline.
I cannot be my normal nazi-self like I am with other kids.

Alone we don't make sense

Very well, then I contradict myself,
I am large, I contain multitudes."

Just a phase

So I'm going through a phase this week
I do this
I go through a week or a few days of being absolutely obsessed with something
and then I come out of it and become my normal self again.

Right now I'm obsessed with modern philosophy
You know
Marx, Hegel, Kant, Occam
Just the reeeally really crazy ones.
There ideas are so far from what is rational to me, that it's fascinating.
I blame my awesome Storia della Filosofia professor.

Does this happen to you?

Maybe all the Italian lemoncello is having it's effect on me at last.

I knew it was just a matter of time.

Blue People

Did you know there really are people with blue pigmented skin?
Like the "blue-skinned people of Kentucky"  ...
I think we look lovely in blue.
It might go nicely with my pink hair.

It is well with my soul

By: Horatio Spafford

  1. When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
    When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
  2. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
    Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
  3. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
  4. For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
  5. But, Lord, ’tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
    The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh, trump of the angel! Oh, voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul!
  6. And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
    The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

Only one thing

Sometimes life is not fair.
It doesn't matter who you are.
It doesn't matter where you live,
or how much money you make.
It doesn't depend on how hard you work,
Or how much you try to make everything perfect,
Sometimes, life just isn't fair.

People fail you.
Sometimes, it's the person you most admire in the world.
And it can happen when you least expect it
When you're not ready at all.
It can make you question your trust in other people.

No one is perfect.
The world is crazy, and that's not an exaggeration.
Only one thing is constant,
And without it I would crumble..
My God.
